Glossop YET (Youth Engagement Team) Weekly Roundup
The following input/events have taken place in the Glossop area this week..
On Wednesday 1st July the YET team had been invited to attend Saint Philip Howard CVA, Sunlaws St, Glossop. This was to take part during their ‘Drop-Down Day’ for the Yr 9 Students. Each class were given an Input on 'Summer Safety'.
🔷'Summer Safety Input' we discussed the following. 🔹 Outdoor Safety 🔹 Camping Safety 🔹 Water Safety 🔹 Derelict Buildings/Building Sites 🔹 Railways 🔹 Reminder of the law about E-scooters and E-Bikes
The team also completed inputs with each group on 'ASB' (Anti-Social Behaviour) which has coincided with the National ASB Awareness Week (running from 29th June – 5th July) - our objective is helping to raise awareness of what constitutes ASB and encourages individuals and communities to take a stand against ASB.
🔶 Explaining What ASB is. 🔸 Harassment - to annoy persistently - to create an unpleasant situation, more than once
🔶 Examples of ASB 🔸 Damage - Nuisance behaviour - Underage drinking and smoking - Verbal Abuse (shouting and swearing) - Littering - Inconsiderate driving - Graffiti.
🔶 How to report ASB - 🔸 Call 101 or 999 (if it's an emergency) - Inform a trusted adult or report anonymously via Fearless.org - Report online to the Police or Local Council - Report via our social media channels (FB and Twitter)
In addition and as part of ASB Awareness Week PCSO Martin from Gamelsey SNT attended St Margarets CVA, Glossop Rd, Gamesley on Thursday 2nd July to complete an input on ASB for their yr 5 students.
It was also an ideal opportunity whilst there promote Police Cadet Recruitment for the Glossop Cohort during our July monthly Drop-in Session at the school, which was the last for this academic year at St Philip Howard CVA.
On Friday morning 3rd July PCSO Buller attended Kershaw Wood, Talbot St, Glossop - Part of First Steps Together. (Kershaw Wood is a small, nurturing specialist school - supporting children aged 5-11 (Key Stages 1 and 2) with additional needs), This was to engage with their Students in preparation for the summer holidays and to thank them (students and staff) for their participation during out recent visits/inputs.
The team would also like to thank the headteachers from each of the above schools, including the teachers and staff for accomodating our visits this week - but just as importantly thank you to the young people who we were engaged with this week too.
